The cup does not leave the pyramids!

by Sheesh Kebab | February 11th, 2008

For the past three weeks, the battle for the 2008 african cup of nations had been going on between the top african national teams, where the top nominees to win this tournament were the fierce Ivory Coast team, the Cameroonian lions and the determined host, the Ghana team.

And although the Egyptian team is the African champion of 2006, and the team who has won this tournament the most times (5 times, opposed to 4 times by the Cameroon) , the Egyptian people did not expect their team to accomplish any victories this time; but it seems GOD had other plans … The Egyptian people is very well known for backing up their soccer team like no one else does in any tournament, even when winning is a far shot, and because of the incredible support and love provided by the Egyptians for their team they fought this year for the title as if defending their own skin. …read full articles of "The cup does not leave the pyramids!"

Back to dial-up

by Sheesh Kebab | February 4th, 2008

***UPDATE***

On Sunday, february 11th, the internet gained it’s full capacity in Egypt and the UAE as two major cables were finally fixed, and here’s my speedtest.net results:

so now I’m on full speed again (I’m not actually really speedy as you can see) and I want to get back my traffic and maybe download a thing or two like a movie and a game to play for the rest of my vacation, which sucks by the way cuz it’s friggin cold in here and we can’t go out, and I have this stupid cough that almost broke my back, so I’m stickin to my computer for now!

**************************************

About 2 weeks ago, one of the main fiber optics internet cables providing Egypt and the entire middle east with internet data was somehow cut deep into the sea, 10 Kilometers north to Alexandria, Egypt … and we have been almost internetless for the entire week that followed, now the connection is back, but honestly it’s just as good as nothing, here is why:

This black thingy shows my current speed (obtained from speedtest.net) and as you can see the download speed is 40 Kb/s , some of you (the ignorant ones) may say “WOW! and you’re complaining about what?!” , so before you jump into any conclusions or WOWs , let me explain … my speed is 40 Kilo”BITs” per secod , NOT KILO”BYTEs”, and a BYTE is actually 8 BITs, so my actual download speed is 40/8 = 5 Kilo”BYTEs”/s , which is just, shameful, I mean I have never seen this speed again since I switched from dial up to broadband 3 years ago. Hopefully this will be fixed soon, and they promised us an extra free month, so, I dunno … I’m not going to be using the internet that much till I get my speed 100% back cuz I actually went through hell just to post what you’re reading right now!

The high res. version of the funday video

by Sheesh Kebab | January 23rd, 2008

I have posted earlier a low resolution version of the funday video in the college, where we all gathered and took some pictures, it was fun huh? Well, as I promised, here is the high res. version of the video, direct download links from megaupload.com, if the links don’t work for ANY reason, pleasy try again later, and keep trying … anyways, inshalla everything will be okay, here are the download links:

Part 1 (95 MB)

Part 2 (95 MB)

Part 3 (95 MB)

Part 4 (95 MB)

Part 5 (30 MB)

Okay, now after you download the five parts, you should have WinRAR program on your computer (if you don’t have it, you can download it here or from the downloads section, then install it by double clicking the exe file you just downloaded then by pressing the next button on all screens then the done button) … and while the big files up there are downloading, you can listen to this:

After the files are downloaded successfully, and WinRAR is setup, select the five parts (by dragging over them, or pressing the control button while left clicking each file) then right click over the selected files and choose “Extract here …” from the context menu, and a 441MB .mpg file will be extracted, and basically that is your video! Enjoy!

by Sheesh Kebab | January 19th, 2008

There’s this weird website that estimates the level of education required to read your blog, so I decided to let it have a go at my blog, and here’s the result:

blog readability test

and since I got graduated only 17 days ago, so I guess that turned out pretty good, but I really don’t know how this thing calculates this result, if anyone knows, please leave me a comment! thanks!

Doctors too WILL strike

by Sheesh Kebab | January 18th, 2008

Doctors in Egypt are finally starting to gather up and form a coalition called “Doctors Without Rights” - as in “Doctors Without Borders” - to demand their lost rights in Egypt. It is known that Egyptian Doctors receive the lowest pay in the entire world in proportion to the economic and political standards in the country, which eventually lead to the downfall of health services to a near halt (except for emergency cases) in the past few years. “Doctors Without Rights” will gather at the Doctors Syndicate on the first of february, downtown Cairo to demand …read full articles of "Doctors too WILL strike"

by Sheesh Kebab | December 21st, 2007

WHO 2006 report for number of patients per doctorsCheck this out doctors of the world, the 2006 WHO report for the number of patients per doctor in various countries, and they publish this kind of information to alert the health organizations to the fact that some people can’t have access to medical care when in need, but this diagram shows us how the Egyptian government is screwing us doctors, because not only we are under-paid, but this shows that we are over-employed too …read full articles of "Doctors who are under-over-under!"
